In this session, we'll explore the environmental impact of the ICT sector, which contributes up to 3.9% of global carbon emissions. Despite commitments to net-zero emissions, major tech companies' energy consumption is outpacing renewable energy deployment. We'll discuss how Harvard's SEAS is tackling this challenge through sustainable computing, aiming to reduce ICT emissions by 45% over the next decade.

2023 SustainableIT Impact Award winner, National Grid will describe their sustainability agenda as a multinational energy provider, and how the IT function is contributing to its success. They will share their experience reducing the energy and emissions footprint of their IT infrastructure. Key points will include how to find and apply accurate energy and emissions data, and the challenge of balancing sustainability with cost and compliance requirements.  They will also share how they are mapping their efforts to the SustainableIT.org standards framework.
