Wiebren van der Zee started at the Dealingroom support team of the Dutch investment bank MeesPierson in 1998.

The organization merged into Fortis Bank where he became manager of the Application Services team for Merchant banking responsible for the IT operations of Markets, Clearing and Commercial banking.

After a merger with ABN Amro in 2010, Wiebren continued to be responsible for Markets applications.

By 2015 he changed roles to become lead Product development and Program manager enabling public cloud for the bank thereby stimulating and creating a hybrid/multi cloud landscape.

From 2020 onwards he introduced sustainability within IT, raising attention to the impact of IT and how to address and embed the topic into the IT responsibilities and way of working.

Today Wiebren contributes and publishes on the topic of Sustainable IT and is board member of the Dutch coalition on Sustainable IT (NCDD) and the part of the EU board of SustainableIT.org.
