Rainer is Global Head Sustainability at Allianz Technology since October 2022, ensuring that sustainability is embedded in all our IT services and products, supporting Allianz Technology to achieve its ambitious targets towards a sustainable future.

He has more than 25 years of experience in IT at various companies, including IBM, TeleCash/ FirstData, Arvato Systems and at Siemens AG, gaining expertise in various areas such as support, infrastructure, data centers, service operations and IT Sustainability.

Rainer developed his passion for sustainability when he started learning how to garden and ways to reduce waste– especially because of his three kids.

With the increasing awareness about the climate crises, the loss of biodiversity and social issues, it became more and more important for him to contribute to a better world, leading him to change his career path. Before joining Allianz Technology, Rainer was Global Director IT Sustainability at Siemens, initiating and implementing the first company-wide IT Sustainability strategy and leading a team of dedicated IT Sustainability professionals.

For him, sustainability not only means environmental protection but rather following the UN Sustainable Development Agenda with a complete view of all ESG aspects.

A climate activist at heart, Rainer calls himself a climate activist in a suit, and the name says it all!
